Universities Scheme

The Lodge of Connaught & Truth No. 521 is proud to be a member of the Universities Scheme run by Grand Lodge. This scheme is available for students at the University of Huddersfield to join Freemasonry. Whilst you are in Huddersfield you can enjoy being a member of 'the largest club in England' along with other students and local citizens of the town. Once you graduate we will put you in contact with a local lodge. This means you have a continued membership of the Craft, and a guaranteed social life once you have completed your studies.

We would be also pleased to hear from alumni as well as past and present members of staff to form an unofficial 'masonic alumni association' for the University of Huddersfield. Six of our members already are graduates of the University of Huddersfield. Subjects include Music (BMus, PhD), Teaching (PGCE) Management (MA & DMS), Marketing (BA), Engineering (BEng) and English Studies (BA).

Please note that we are a Lodge that is 'part of the University Scheme' rather than a 'University Lodge'. There are no formal ties with the University of Huddersfield, who do not recognise us in the formal sense. Please also note that Freemasons do not join for any pecuniary or career benefit, rather it is a social, philanthropic and charitable organisation. You are invited to read the Frequently Asked Questions for more information on Freemasonry. Contrary to what the conspiracy theorists would suggest, Freemasonry is a benign, organisation that promotes good citizenship.

If you are interested in exploring the idea of becoming a 'student' member or an 'associate' member, please contact us using the following form. We would be delighted to hear from you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop us a line.
